New Mexico has enjoyed a long history of filmmaking successes, including "3:10 to Yuma," "No Country For Old Men," "Brokeback Mountain," "Traffic," "Superman: The Movie" and "Armageddon." Residents hoping to gain acting credentials should consider employment as a movie extra on the set of movies filmed within the state. This low-paying acting gig --- also known as "background acting" --- can require driving in a car along the street, attending a school dance or grabbing a cup of coffee. Movies of all genres require movie extras to promote the authenticity of a film; therefore, job opportunities for background acting are plentiful in the state of New Mexico.
